Raku Kiln Kits
For our customers who want to build their own Raku kiln, we offer two kits. Hey, you can buy nuts and bolts, right? Well, we've designed these kits with that in mind. The stuff you can get at your local hardware store or have in that junk pile, is the material you can easily lay hands on. You don't need us to ship it across the country to you. These kits provide you with the things that are hard to find. One of the most important things you need to build a ceramic fiber Raku kiln is information. That's why both kits come with Steve Branfman's great book, "Raku; A Practical Approach". Steve has clear instructions along with step by step photographs showing you how to build a fiber drum kiln. There's also recipes for clay and glazes along with lots of information on safety, firing procedures, and the history of Raku.
You'll provide a propane tank, the metal mesh for the drum, cinder blocks, nuts & bolts, handles, tools, and, of course, the labor... Don't worry, the book shows you what to buy, how much, what it's called, where to find it, and what tools you'll need. We provide you with;
